Journey Student ministry is known as StreCo, a combination of STRENGTH and COURAGE. We currently meet every Wednesday evening during the school year in our Student Center. Doors open at 6PM and we conclude at 8:30PM. 7th-12th grade students are welcome to join us each week for discipleship and fellowship.
1 Corinthian’s 16:13-14 tells us, “Be on your guard; stand firm in the faith; be courageous; be strong. Do everything in love.” As followers of Jesus, we are here to encourage you and others in a relationship with Him.
StreCo exists to call students into their primary identity as ones who are deeply loved by God, inviting them to live a Spirit-empowered lifestyle of holiness and wholehearted love for God. We aim to gather and connect students to live a life of prayer in the power of the Spirit and to walk in lifelong partnership with God and His purposes for their life.
Come and see for yourself.
FEAST OF COMMUNITY 2021 event - November 13, 2021
WHAT IS FEAST OF COMMUNITY? On November 13, 2021 we will host our annual Feast of Community event from Journey Fellowship. Feast of community is an event that seeks to bless any family in need of a holiday meal. Around the Thanksgiving time of year, there are many families in our community that may not experience the joy of a holiday meal. For whatever reason this may be, our goal is to help supply a meal that has zero strings attached. We want our community to experience the love of Jesus through the selfless act of giving. FOOD is a a necessity and many families do not have the privilege of providing/obtaining a large family-style meal during this time of the year. We seek to gather, organize and distribute as many meals that we receive requests for. Our students will have the opportunity to be directly involved in this blessing. Above simply gathering the items that are needed, each student; along with any family members available, will hand deliver these meals to the families that are in need between the hours of 10am and 2pm on Saturday, November 13. The StreCo staff will have all kits ready for volunteers to pick up from the church that morning. They will have the opportunity to be the love of Jesus through this small act.
We encourage any 7th-12th grade student to join us for this opportunity. Below is a list of items that will go out to our church family as well as posted on our social media sites (page bottom). We will also encourage our students to bring in certain items from this list each week in order to gain the appropriate amounts needed.
HOW CAN PARENTS AND THE CHURCH FAMILY HELP?
- Parents: If you have a student that volunteers for the Feast of Community, we want you to serve as well. Students will be the ones delivering the meal kits to the families that have requested one and we would love for the parents to help get their students to each home address they receive (up to 5 per student). This way, the whole family can be a part of serving and blessing our community. Parents, this is a great way to serve along side of your student. We will also hold a full event training for all volunteers (students and parents) and will get you the dates after registration is confirmed.
- Church Family: We are in need of meal kit donations. Below is picture of the list of items needed to make up a Thanksgiving meal kit. You can also pick up a full list of items and info from our Student Center at Journey Fellowship, or by emailing firstname.lastname@example.org . If you wish to donate, please do so in the form of a full meal kit. This will help from having an over/under abundance of specific items.
HOW CAN MY STUDENT BE A PART OF THIS? This year, we ask that each student register HERE in order to be a part of this event. Because we will be assigning students and their families to specific families, we need a registration account. Registration is secure and on our home church data-base but is also required.
DOES MY STUDENT NEED TO ATTEND JOURNEY STUDENTS MINISTRY TIMES IN ORDER TO BE PART OF THE EVENT? The fast answer is "no", they do not need to attend our services in order to be an example of Jesus to the community and others; HOWEVER, each week, we will share with the attending students important information that is needed in order to prepare for the event. We highly encourage your student to attend each week. Junior High (7th-8th grade) service each Sunday 9AM & 11AM services in the Student Center. High School (9th-12th grade) each Wednesday evening 7PM-8:30PM in the Student Center. Doors open at 6:30PM.
Please feel free to contact any of the student ministry staff members for questions. (Info at bottom of page)
NEW COVID UPDATE concerning JF Student Ministry (Updated September 2021)
We are doing everything we can to make sure that your student is safe during this pandemic. 2021 will be an outstanding year for your student to get engaged. We will remain diligence in keeping a safe and sanitized atmosphere each day of the week. Also, we are planning a host of events that your students can be involved in both on-site and off-site, please visit one of our social media pages for info.
During all events masks are not mandatory for students but encouraged for all individuals. We ask that you carefully consider your peers and surroundings when attending any event and be mindful of your sanitation practices. We encourage all volunteers to be vaccinated and/or schedule your vaccination; however, this is not mandatory.
We understand that it is a parents/guardians right to keep their student from attending any event due to their family safety protocol and we acknowledge this call. We care for your student and will support this decision for their safety. Keep in mind that we will also do everything to keep them safe while they attend any event of the student ministry and highly encourage their involvement at all of our gatherings.
If you are a student in need of prayer,
please contact Pastor Sonny or any of our Student Ministry leads at the church office phone
